The Wabi-Sabi Vessel | Hand-Carved Reclaimed Timber
The Aesthetic
Where the raw soul of the earth meets the serenity of the shoreline, in Coastal interiors or a rustic farmhouse vibe. This giant hand-carved planter is the ultimate expression of Wabi-Sabi—a design style that celebrates the weathered, the organic, and the perfectly imperfect. With its sun-drenched patina and deep, tactile grain, it brings a grounded, "found-object" energy to airy, high-end interiors.

A Sculptural History
Born from a single, solid log of reclaimed timber, this vessel was originally a vital tool in rural Chinese provinces. Hand-chiselled as a provincial grain silo or a heavy-duty trunk mortar, it has spent decades acquiring its unique character. The cracks, knots, and tool marks aren't flaws—they are a visual history of its past life, embodying the Wabi-Sabi belief that beauty deepens with age.

Design & Styling
This piece acts as a "sculptural anchor," providing the necessary visual weight to balance out light linens and minimalist coastal architecture.
  • The Organic Statement: Perfect for housing a gnarled Olive Tree or tall, dried structural branches to create a focal point in a sun-filled corner.
  • The Textural Contrast: Position it against white-washed walls or sea-grass rugs to highlight the rich, feathered texture of the antique wood.
  • A Natural Catch-all: Use it in an entryway or master suite to hold oversized linen throws, yoga mats, or a collection of beach-combed driftwood.

Specifications
  • Dimensions: 33cm x 30cm x 64cm
  • Weight: 6.3kg (Solid, single-piece construction)
  • Provenance: Reclaimed from Northern China
  • Material: Antique Elm Hardwood
  • Character: As with all our salvaged timber pieces, natural variations and imperfections are part of its unique soul.

Maintenance & Care Guide

Include this to reassure customers that their investment will last a lifetime.

Dusting: Use a soft, dry microfiber cloth weekly.

Spills: Blot (don't rub) spills immediately with a damp cloth.

Protection: Always use coasters or trivets. Avoid placing the table in direct, harsh Australian sunlight to prevent excessive movement or fading of the Dove finish.

Longevity: Reclaimed wood is "alive" and may develop small surface checks (tiny cracks) with seasonal humidity changes—this is a normal part of its character.

A Note on Reclaimed Timber

As this piece is crafted from recycled materials, natural characteristics such as small cracks, colour variation, and visible grain are inherent to the wood — each one adding to the unique charm and lived-in warmth of your piece.
